Glitches and other malfunctions have plagued the newest version of the online Common Application, which is used by more than 500 colleges and universities, The New York Times reported. Prospective applicants have encountered several issues with the application's new software, ranging from distorted formatting to problems with payment. These issues have concerned students and admissions officers as early admission deadlines approach. Several colleges have notified students about potential problems with the Common Application and have hired extra staff on a temporary basis due to the glitches. Admissions officers said that they still expect to send out decisions to students by mid-December.
SA proposes open course evaluations
Student Assembly's academic affairs committee is spearheading an initiative to open official course reviews to the student body. Students currently submit course reviews at the end of each term, which faculty may take into consideration when modifying courses, though the information relayed is not publicly accessible.
Two men affiliated with RaRaM arrested for laptop theft
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Raymond Fredson and 25-year-old Jean Charles, allegedly stole three laptop computers, three backpacks and multiple other items from four members of the fraternity. The men performed with the band but are not official members, RaRaM spokesperson Max St. Arromand said.
College suspends Beta during hazing probe
The suspension is hinged on an initial review of emails that "suggest the chapter has and is engaging in hazing activities, service of alcohol to minors and behavior that threatens physical harm," College spokesperson Justin Anderson said in email.
Three arrested over weekend
Three people were arrested on Friday during the bonfire, with two apprehended on accounts of disorderly conduct for attempting to touch the bonfire, which Kinne called "extraordinarily dangerous." One underage student in possession of alcohol was arrested and charged with possession by consumption. Another person, who was over 21, was also taken into protective custody by the Hanover Police due to intoxication during the bonfire but was not arrested.

One on One: Maggie Scanlon '14
This week, I sat down with field hockey player Maggie Scanlon '14, who was recently named the Northeast Credit Union athlete of the week for her performances against Brown University, the College of the Holy Cross and Bryant University. In the team's three games, Scanlon had two game-winning goals and helped the team post a 2-1 record.

Field hockey starts weekend with win
Ellen Meyer '15 earned her second career shutout in goal for Dartmouth. A stout defense contained the River Hawks (1-13, 0-1 America East) to just one shot on goal, which led to an easy save by Meyer. In total, Dartmouth had 28 shots while the opposition managed only 8.
XC teams see mixed results in Boston
The men's and women's cross-country teams finished third and 14th, respectively, at the New England Cross Country Championship this weekend at Franklin Park in Boston. The men's team was led by Matt Herzig '17, who crossed the finish line 16th overall in 24:54 for the 8K. Helen Schlachtenhaufen '17 finished first for the women with in 18:10 for the 5K, good for 53rd place.

‘B-Room' is not perfect, but is still worth a listen
The way I see it, there are singles bands and there are album bands. A singles band has a few great songs, and may even put out solid albums, but there are always two or three songs that clearly stand above the rest.One wonders, record label pressures and fan expectations aside, if they would even bother putting out albums at all. An album band, on the other hand, might make great music, but they're not the first band you go to when you're making that sweet new playlist.

Alum screens ‘Tall as the Baobab Tree'
This year's Homecoming marked the return of many alumni to the College, and one graduate, Jeremy Teicher '10, screened an original film in Loew Auditorium. "Tall as the Baobab Tree," which Teicher co-wrote with Alexi Pappas '12, is a feature filmed in the West African language of Pulaar that tells the fictional narrative of two Senegalese girls.
