I find it hard to understand why I loved the film "Half Nelson." I wasn't so naive as to assume this would be all smiles and giggles, but I also never anticipated being left so uneasy, so disillusioned and yet so in love with a story. I am not alone in my excitement, judging by the film's enthusiastic reception at several film festivals this year.

The Big Green dominated Rutgers in virtually every match, but against the more competitive Cornell and St. John's squads, the team couldn't seem to find a way to fire on all cylinders. The doubles teams played well against the Big Red, but couldn't handle St. John's. The singles players, on the other hand, endured a thrashing against Cornell, but came up big later in the weekend.

Dartmouth researchers received a grant from the National Science Foundation for research on the genomes of economically important crops on Monday. They are currently investigating how gene networks in the Brassica genus, which includes broccoli, cauliflower and mustard, help to detect light cues and trigger floral development. This research could potentially broaden the geographic growing range of crops.

Dartmouth earned the 47th spot on Black Enterprise magazine's Top 50 Colleges for African Americans report this year for the first time since the list debuted in 1999. Florida A&M University secured first place, while four other historically black colleges and universities helped round out the top ten. Dartmouth and Brown University's addition to the list marked the first time all eight members of the Ivy League were represented in the list.
