Shark student band continues legacy of live performances

Student bands are an enduring aspect of Dartmouth’s musical community, which is composed of students from across class years. The most current iteration of the student band Shark is made up of Jacob Donoghue ’22 on keys and vocals, Patrick Howard ’23 on guitar and vocals, Kirusha Lanski ’23 on drums, Bo Farnell ’26 on guitar and Ian Moore ’26 on bass and backup vocals. In an email statement to The Dartmouth, Nick Deveau ’16 wrote that he co-founded the band with Pablo Marvel ’15 and Zach Wooster ’15 in the fall of 2014. 


The Dublin Guitar Quartet performs pieces from contemporary composers

The Dublin Guitar Quartet performed at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College on Tuesday evening, as one of many performance events held at alternative venues during the Hopkins Center renovation. The quartet, composed of Brian Bolger, Pat Brunnock, Chien Buggle and Tomas O'Durcain, performed a 120 minute program of works from contemporary composers. 



The Manchester Collective explores the melding of African and European music styles

The Manchester Collective, in collaboration with South African cellist Abel Selaocoe and the Chesaba trio, began their American tour of “Sirocco” at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Thursday, Oct. 6. The Collective features violinists Rakhi Singh — the group’s music Director — and Sammy Singh, as well as violist Ruth Gibson. They were joined by Selaocoe who served as both the guest director and narrator of the performance, as well as bass guitarist Alan Keary and percussionist Dudu Kouate to compile a performance featuring a wide repertoire from multiple continents and cultural backgrounds.
