Jennifer Tyrrel is an engaged, passionate and caring mother. She was the den leader of her son's Tiger Cub Scout group and performed community service work with the boys for soup kitchens, the local Salvation Army and local environmental groups. Her Boy Scouts were compassionate, resourceful, respectful and courageous, earning badges and working hard to exercise the 12 core values of scouting.

Internalizing the idea of community at Dartmouth is difficult, to say the least. We are exposed to so many communities every day, from Greek organizations to sports teams to residential halls. While our affiliations to these groups are incredibly worthwhile and meaningful, we run the risk of leaving out countless individuals by forgetting that together, we are also committed to a larger group on campus the Dartmouth community at large.

Have you watched the KONY 2012 video yet? If not, get on it. It's a beautiful work of art. The graphics are quite impressive, and the soundtrack is positively delightful. Mumford and Sons is a highlight. But is the video factual, legitimate and accurate? Not so much.

There is a little something about Thanksgiving that makes everything seem so much better. Perhaps it's that everything smells like cinnamon, or maybe it's the bountiful and mouthwatering feasts that make the holiday so anticipated. For me, however, it is because I get to see my family.

I like Dartmouth. Actually, I love it. My friends are incredible, my professors and classes are unbelievably fascinating and this gorgeous New Hampshire setting is inspiring. What I probably like most about Dartmouth is the College's potential. We are constantly told that we students are the driving force in changing the College for the better or for the worse. That responsibility, while somewhat daunting, is also exhilarating. The constant, and lovely, barrage of blitzes about student events, speakers, performances and everything of that ilk is just astonishing people on this campus are so involved, intelligent, passionate and committed. We constantly take steps toward becoming a better school. I love that.

William Burr, born and raised in Claremont, N.H., smiled at me and rubbed his forehead. "It was nice to see you guys come in and really care about us. It was like wow, people from the outside actually wanted to see people on the inside," he said. This isn't Bill's first time in jail.

Politics are weird. Dartmouth is weird. The intersection of the two is downright bizarre.

My 18th birthday was one of the best days of my life. When I gained the right to vote, I was ecstatic. I viewed elections as my voice and as the public's time to shine and carve out our place in American history.

The house smelled like roasted ground nuts and upturned soil. Yolam Okello wiped dirt off of his shovel with his work shirt. "It was clumping," he explained. "I need to loosen the dirt before the rain comes."

Up until about a week ago, I had looked down on French President Nicolas Sarkozy's call for the ban of the burqa. I thought the ban was racism thinly veiled as a security concern that sought to destroy religious tradition. I never actually thought about the faces behind the veils, and never thought about the lives impacted by the mandatory covering.
