The Packard Cup is the last cup race at Dartmouth for the team's 10 seniors, four of whom are in the first boat lineup over the weekend. Dartmouth is currently ranked No. 15 in the country, while Syracuse enters the race at No. 8 in the latest US Rowing Collegiate Poll. At No. 15, the Big Green is currently the seventh best team in the Ivy League, with only No. 16 Columbia University sitting in a lower position. Dartmouth currently sits 18.3 seconds behind No. 1 University of Washington in the rankings, as the poll attempts to measure the relative speed of each boat.

In men's tennis, Michael Laser '12 and Alex de Chatellus '13 were selected to be on the second team for doubles play after a season in which they compiled a 9-7 overall record and a 3-3 mark in league play. This selection marked the third consecutive year that Laser has been selected for doubles, each year playing with a different partner.

The Dartmouth men's golf team narrowly missed out on a prime opportunity to claim the Ivy League title last week at Galloway National Golf Club, as the Big Green fell to the University of Pennsylvania in the third sudden-death playoff hole. Unfortunately for Dartmouth, the team's quest to take Ivy League gold next year will be hurt greatly by the loss of Peter Williamson '12, who will be graduating this June.

The Big Green a team without a coach narrowly edged out the U.S. Military Academy for first place, earning its first top finish at the national tournament since the program's inception in 1992. Cornell University finished third while powerhouse Northwestern settled for fourth place despite its first-place finish in the epee.

The Dartmouth men's and women's golf teams both competed in two-day tournaments to capitalize on the temperate spring weather this past weekend. Coincidently, both teams finished sixth out of 14 teams in their respective competitions.

It was Dartmouth's first meet of the season at which the entire men's and women's teams were able to compete. While several members of both teams traveled to meets in North and South Carolina during spring break, the entire roster had not yet competed together.

This week, I talked with Steve Mangan '14, a three-term athlete who competes on the cross country, skiing and track and field teams. Steve is currently running the 1,500 and 5,000-meter races in outdoor track and is preparing for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships May 5-6.

The Dartmouth sailing team competed in five different events in four different states this past weekend. The Big Green pulled out fourth-place finishes in three events along with sixth- and eighth-place finishes in the remaining two events.

The Dartmouth women's hockey team had a very strong showing, as Big Green players merited four of the 14 total selections, the second-most among Ivy teams, bested only by Cornell University's five honorees.

The Big Green men (9-12-4, 6-9-3 ECAC) will first head down to New Haven, Conn. on Friday night to face off with the Bulldogs (10-13-2, 7-10-1 ECAC). Dartmouth's current six game winless streak started three weeks ago after a tough 5-4 home loss to Yale that saw the Big Green fail to hold on to an early 4-1 lead. Yale has been victorious in each of its last nine meetings with Dartmouth.

Union visited Hanover in search of a win to guarantee the Dutchmen home ice advantage for the first round of the ECAC tournament. The squad played like it, too, dismantling the Big Green on both sides of the ice.

The women sent a small contingent to New York to compete in the distance medley championship against schools from all over the country. The Big Green claimed a hard fought second-place finish over the University of Connecticut Huskies and right behind the University of Arkansas Razorbacks.

Unlike the majority of Dartmouth student-athletes, however, Pappas' name is now in the Dartmouth record books. She ran a 9:14.75 in the 3000-meter run this past weekend at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University, beating the previous record held by current women's cross-country coach Maribel Sanchez Souther '96 by a little more than a tenth of a second.
