‘What did you do this break?’ is a week-long feature covering students’ experiences and adventures over our extra-long six-week winter break.

Over the break, Una Lee '15 spent six days in Iceland, spending time both in the capital city ofReykjavik and seeing sites across the country.

"As a travel destination Iceland is probably best known for its natural attractions. Two of the highlights for me were watching a geyser erupt and actually being able to hike on a glacier (with pickaxes). We also swam in the Blue Lagoon, saw stunning waterfalls (even some frozen ones) and visited a black sand beach with huge waves and interesting rock formations. Some of my favorite moments were in Reykjavik. The first was when we visited a small, local geothermal pool to sit in the hot tubs and then got ice cream -- apparently a typical outing for Icelandic teenagers. The other was when local Icelanders who had just finished their final exams showed us a taste ofReykjavik nightlife and shared experiences from their lives."
