‘What did you do this break?’ is a week-long feature covering students’ experiences and adventures over our extra-long six-week winter break.

After studying together in Buenos Aires on the Spanish FSP last spring, Courtney Kelly ’15, Katie Lunt ’15 and Diksha Gautham ’15 spent two weeks in Costa Rica this winter break. The trio visited six cities and towns across the country, practicing their Spanish skills along the way.

“Costa Rica is a very vibrant country, but I especially liked visiting the smaller towns as opposed to the larger cities like San Jose. We traveled from the Pacific coast to the Caribbean coast over the course of two weeks, taking public transportation the entire way.” -- Courtney Kelly '15

“We visited the town of Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica for the last few days of our trip. Tortuguero is famous for the sea turtles that hatch on the beaches every year, and we were lucky enough to witness about a hundred baby turtles hatch from their nest!”

"We visited a coffee plantation in Monteverde -- very cool to see the entire process of coffee production."

"We also visited the sugarcane fields and saw how sugarcane is processed."
