Enzo La Hoz Calassara ’27, an undergraduate student from Minnesota, passed away on Sunday after “an accident in the Cook Islands,” senior vice president for community and campus life Jennifer Rosales and interim dean of undergraduate student affairs Anne Hudak wrote in an email to campus today. Calassara was participating in the linguistics foreign study program in New Zealand and Polynesia.

Calassara, a linguistics major, served as sparring captain and vice president for Dartmouth Club Taekwondo, according to the email. He was also a member of the Handel Society, Glee Club, the Dartmouth College Gospel Choir and The Dartmouth Sings, according to Rosales and Hudak.

“A gifted musician, poet and performer since childhood, he carried a powerful presence onto every stage, using his voice to uplift and inspire others,” Rosales and Hudak wrote.

According to the email from Rosales and Hudak, the Counseling Center is offering walk-in hours in Room 219 of the Collis Center for Student Involvement from 10:30 to 12:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Dartmouth Student Mental Health Union is also available for peer support.
