The victories over Sacred Heart (16-14, 5-1 NEC) were particularly impressive, with the Pioneers coming off two wins against Mount St. Mary's University and sitting in third place in the Northeast Conference.

Dartmouth was forced to engineer a late-inning comeback to win the first game, entering the bottom of the seventh inning down, 9-4. The Big Green proceeded to score five runs in the seventh.

An eighth-inning single by Hillary Hubert '13 sealed the victory, driving home Morgan Wharton '13 for the winning run in extra innings.

The team's comeback was made possible due to a grand slam to left field by Alex St. Romain '14, which drove in Hubert, Katie Adams '13 and Hillary Barker '12.

"Our whole team was playing really well and hitting really well," St. Romain said. "So many people were playing well today and it let me just relax and have fun."

Kat Hicks '12 was able to pick up her fifth win of the season, improving her record to 5-1. She recorded six strikeouts in just under four innings of work.

Dartmouth was able to build on its success in the second game of the doubleheader, jumping ahead early with an eight-run second inning and never looking back.

"We scored a lot of runs and kept putting pressure on them every inning, which was awesome and let us take the game," St. Romain said.

The Big Green used a wide cast of players to produce the win, as six Dartmouth players recorded hits. Audrey Kolodziej '11 helped lead the team with two RBIs.

"The second game was a team effort and everyone was hitting, which was awesome," St. Romain said.

The Big Green also benefited from a notable performance by Adams, who homered in the second inning to cap an eight-run frame. Noelle Ramirez '13 tripled to left field in the inning, driving in Hubert.

Barker pitched all five innings of the game, earning the victory and improving her season record to 12-9. She also contributed on the offensive end as one of five Dartmouth players to register two hits during the second game.

With the Big Green leading 9-4 after five innings, the umpires called the game due to darkness, giving Dartmouth the win.

The doubleheader began a brief homestretch for the Big Green. The team will host Cornell University and Princeton University this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders.

"We need to make sure we're putting pressure every inning and never letting up, and I think that's been holding us back from out full potential this season," St. Romain said. "I think if we do that we have a really good chance at winning all four games this weekend."
