Dartmouth graduates continue to have the highest mid-career median salaries in the country when compared to graduates from other colleges, according to the 2009 College Salary Report by PayScale, an online database of employee and employer salaries, which analyzes that data from a variety of angles. Dartmouth alumni reported a median salary of $129,000 ten years or more after graduation, a decline from the $134,000 reported last year. Graduates of the College were ranked 21st in starting income, with alumni less than five years into their careers reporting median earnings of $58,200. Five of the top 10 schools with the highest mid-career median salaries were members of the Ivy League. The study only surveyed graduates without advanced graduate degrees.

The NCAA has placed the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team on probation for two years after uncovering 923 unauthorized e-mail messages that were sent by UNH employees to 30 high school freshmen and sophomores during the 2007-2008 academic year, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. The UNH program will be subject to heightened scrutiny by the NCAA during this period and will not be allowed to send as many recruiters off campus for a six-month period. Although the 30 students who received the e-mails will be allowed to be recruited and receive athletic scholarships from UNH, they will not be able to receive expense-paid visits to the UNH campus and cannot sign letters of intent committing themselves to attending the university. The probation will not affect UNH hockey scholarships or the team's schedule.
