Editors' Note

When people talk about alternative social scenes and spaces at Dartmouth, I think fondly of this past weekend. Between drinking outside at AD's lawn party, eating pig at Theta Delt and dancing on Chi Gam's lawn during the over-hyped GAMPALOOZA party, for me, Green Key weekend was all about outdoor "alternatives" to the basement scene.

Jen accompanied me to all these parties, but she's also works behind the scenes of the new alternative social space scene, planning Student Assembly parties in Hovey Grill that try to reach out to all students, including those who may not feel comfortable in the typical fraternity setting.

This week, The Mirror looks into the Dartmouth social scene that takes advantage of spaces on campus other than the fraternities and sororities, and hears from a range of students -- some whom are content with the social environment at the College, and some of whom want change.
