Hanover Police arrested an 18-year-old male for simple assault while driving a vehicle. The incident, which occurred on June 27, involved the assault of a 21-year-old female who was jogging on the sidewalk of South Main Street near Mainbrook Bridge. The victim reported that a person threw the metal top of an iced tea container out of the vehicle, striking the victim on the temple. The victim gave the vehicle's license plate number to police. Officers found that, at the time of the incident, two additional passengers -- a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old -- were in the vehicle. To date, these passengers have not been charged.
July 29, 1:12 p.m.,
South Main Street
Hanover Police received a call from Molly's Restaurant and Bar in Hanover regarding a 37-year-old intoxicated male. The restaurant reported that this very intoxicated individual had wandered into Molly's. The individual initially refused to honor the restaurant's request that he leave, but eventually left of his own accord. Police responded to the scene and found the suspect to be highly intoxicated. He was not charged, but he was taken into protective custody.
Aug. 2, 2:48 a.m.,
School Street and Maple Street
An officer on patrol observed a male and female walking ahead of him on the road. As the officer approached, he observed the male attempting to hide an object from his view. The officer stopped the couple and found the object to be a beer bottle. The male told the officer that he was 21 years old, but he gave the officer a date of birth that made him only 20 years old. The officer told the suspect that he was under arrest and began to handcuff the individual. After the officer put the first handcuff on the suspect, the suspect pulled away and said he did not want to be cuffed. He eventually agreed to be cuffed. The individual, a member of the Class of 2010, was arrested for the unlawful possession of alcohol and resisting arrest.
Aug. 2, 9:28 a.m., South Park Street and Summer Street
An officer directing traffic on the day of the Shriners Parade observed an open container of alcohol in the lap of the right-front passenger of a silver Hyundai Alantra. The officer asked the driver, a 19-year-old female, to pull over. The passenger was a 21-year-old male. The driver was arrested for the unlawful possession of alcohol.
