Feb. 2, 1:26 p.m., East Wheelock Street
Hanover police responded to a man who reported a theft from the Alumni Gymnasium faculty locker room on Jan. 31 between 6 and 8 a.m. The victim told police that when he returned to the locker room, he had discovered that his locker had been broken into. He claimed his credit cards, license and a small amount of cash had been removed. Upon contacting the credit card companies, the victim learned that his cards had already been used to purchase a $2,778 computer system at Systems Plus in either Hanover or Lebanon. Two purchases totalling $1,401 were then attempted at a Target and a Wal-Mart in Massachusetts. To date, the suspect or suspects have yet to be apprehended
Feb. 3, 1:21 a.m., East Wheelock Street
While on patrol, Hanover police officers observed two females holding onto a third, seemingly intoxicated female walking down the sidewalk. The officers made contact with the group as they reached the North Park Street intersection. Officers learned that the two girls were trying to bring the suspect to Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. The girls told police that they had found the suspect at the front door of Chi Heorot fraternity in her current state of intoxication. Officers found the suspect fairly unresponsive and called for an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived, the suspect "went hysterical" and wanted one of the girls to go with her. This 20-year-old female had been arrested in 2006 and completed the alcohol diversions program. As a result, she will not be eligible for the program again.
Feb. 4, 3:05 p.m., Massachusetts Row
Hanover police responded to a Dartmouth student who reported an attempted burglary in her room in Mid-Massachusetts Hall. The woman told officers that she had returned to her room after being away for the weekend, and when she approached the room, she noticed the door was slightly ajar. Upon entering the room, she found a male holding a clock radio about to flee the scene. The suspect told her that he had someone's permission to enter the room, but the victim told the suspect that the clock radio belonged to her and asked him to set it down. The victim then asked him what class year he was, and he responded that he was a member of the Class of 2010 and then left the room. The victim described the suspect as a heavy-set white male with dark hair.
Feb. 6, 2:17 p.m., Lyme Road
Hanover police arrested a Dartmouth male for providing alcoholic beverages to persons underage. The alleged event occurred on Jan. 20 at the undergraduate society Panarchy. Officers launched an investigation after responding to an ambulance call at Panarchy where they discovered an underage male lying on a couch in the hallway covered with vomit. The student claimed to have consumed six to seven alcoholic drinks, including shots of vodka and other mixed drinks. The suspect has been given a court date of March 4.
