Jan. 9, 3:26 a.m., Occom Ridge Road
Hanover Police responded to a 9-1-1 emergency call when a 14-year-old female Hanover resident awoke to find a 21-year-old Dartmouth student beside her in bed. The student entered the unlocked private family residence and proceeded to the second floor where he entered the girl's room. The subject allegedly removed his pants and climbed into bed with her. The intruder fled the scene after realizing the family had contacted the police. Alcohol was a factor in the event, according to Hanover Police.
At 3:40 a.m., shortly after several police cars had moved in response to the incident, officers spotted the subject based on descriptions provided by the homeowner. The subject was barefoot and wearing a red T-shirt. An officer left his car and followed the subject as he attempted to jump over a fence. The officer on patrol then ordered the subject to the ground and arrested him. The Dartmouth student was charged with criminal trespassing.
Jan. 11, 8:32 a.m., Ruddsboro Road
A Hanover resident received a suspicious telephone recording and feared that someone was attempting to commit identity theft. After listening to the recording, police investigated by calling the number on the message. This line led them to another line advertising a female sex line. Police subsequently concluded the investigation. To date, no other complaints have been made regarding similar phone messages.
Jan. 13, 12:09 p.m., Rip Road
A Hanover resident contacted the police when he saw several people fighting in his neighbor's driveway. Police arrived on the scene and identified the subjects as brothers from a local Hanover family engaging in a wrestling match. Police characterized the incident as a family dispute and compiled an incident report.
Jan. 13, 1:11 p.m., Webster Avenue
Brothers at the Chi Gamma Epsilon fraternity reported two thefts at a registered fraternity party Saturday night. One PlayStation 3 system and one Xbox were removed from separate locked rooms in the fraternity. Because the windows in both rooms were locked, police suspect that the thieves came in through the fire escape. Several games were also stolen from both rooms.
