THE LIST

It seems students are making more of an effort in the style department ... and it warms my heart. But there is still a desperate sandal situation. Ladies, style doesn't end at the ankle. Current Dartmouth favorites are boring and safe.

Some ways to improve the dreary state of affairs for spring footwear:

  1. Leather sandals: What's with the Rainbows and Birks?

Apparently, they're comfortable. Fine. But there are a myriad of leather sandals that are still comfortable while being fun, funky, sexy and, most of all, unique.

  1. Must-have metallic

This is a worthy craze that's cropping up all over campus. If you haven't caught on yet, check out these metallic sandals.

  1. Ribbon is done like minute-rice

Ribbon sandals and belts may have been cute at one point and certainly made J-Crew a lot of money, but I'm going to go ahead and declare that trend over. Ix nay on the ibbon ray. You want color?

  1. Black (flip-flop) plague

Somebody alert Dick's House: It's a pandemic. They are the epitome of Dartmouth's boring, safe style. Everyone's excuse is that they "go with everything." Sigh. At least try a black leather sandal that can be more versatile than a flip-flop, and has a more mature look.
