Stevens leads Big Green ladies with 165
The women's golf team traveled to Connecticut for the Yale Invitational this weekend, finishing seventh out of the nine schools at the two-round tournament.
It was a disappointing finish for Dartmouth, as they have far more potential than they showed on the Yale course. There were some excellent highlights though, including Hayley Stevens '07 tying for 13th with rounds of 81 and 84. In addition, Elizabeth Dupuy '08 continued her excellent rookie season, shooting an impressive 80 on her first round.
Although the Big Green wasn't completely satisfied with their performance, the ladies were enthralled at the fact that they finished two shots ahead of Harvard, their rival. The two teams have such a history that they have created a Harvard-Dartmouth Cup, and the team finishes plays better in a tournament gets to keep the cup. The Big Green look to keep the cup until the spring season, as the two teams will compete again when they travel to the Bucknell Invitational for the last tournament of the season this upcoming weekend.
As Stevens put it, "Our goal for the Bucknell Invitational is to win, and if we don't win we want to at least keep the cup from Harvard."
The women hope to battle hard this weekend and put up some low scores to close out their season in a striking fashion.
