Libertas, humanitas, egalitas," you may encounter on my website and posters. I begin with the premise: we are only free when we are all free. Individual spirits born onto immaculate earth, we commune in human splendor. All of us human, all of us divine. All of us important, all of us unique. Seeing our importance, we recognize others'; sharing our divine soul, we behold the spark of a friend.
How do you talk to an angel?Via the Internet. Via an interactive, pleasureful place known belovedly as the Student Ensemble. I propose we lead ourselves, I propose we lead each other. You're invited once a week to meet someone entirely new. Someone sexy, someone cute, someone inspirational. If you like this person, set up a date. Come back next week and bring us the juicy details of your rendezvous. If it's juicy enough we'll put it on the Internet for everyone to enjoy. If your ideas have enough chemistry, we'll birth your brainchild into our community. A new student center, a student shuttle, concerts on the Green, your wish is our music.
The essence of my platform is universal suffrage. I believe every one of you has an earnest voice within. I want to hear your voice. We come together in Hanover to pass several years of our lives together in community. Together we share our opinions, interests, desires and greatest hopes. I offer you the opportunity to share with the entire campus. We are blessed to live in a time with a technology that facilitates community sharing on an impressive scale, a moment of pure democracy.
We, friends, are the summation of centuries' work. We share a diverse, talented, intelligent community. Joy I would feel at experiencing every one of your voices in campus-wide referendum. Joy I would feel at beholding each unique presence at a Student Ensemble meeting.
I believe together we can do all these things. I believe each one of us is a key player. I believe the administrators furnish a structure for the flourishing of young men and women. I believe our professors are here to inspire us and to be surpassed by us. I believe Hanover is our town. I believe we are here to engage each other and this community with every part of our beings, our minds, our hearts, our bodies, our souls. I believe in freedom and love between us. I don't believe in respect. I believe in love, adoration and admiration.
Together we share great power. We are the spirit of Dartmouth, its present and its future. I invite you to believe in me, as I believe in you.
