Big Green hurler Conor Brooks '00 was recognized as Ivy Pitcher of the Week for his stunning performance in Florida this spring break.
Recording victories against Delaware, Lafayette, and Central Connecticut, Brooks led the staff with his 3-1 record and ranked highly in total innings pitched.
"When Conor is pitching, it's a three game weekend for me, I don't have to worry about him finishing the game, he has the stamina and experience," said Head Coach Bob Whalen.
Brooks also earned a save when the Big Green defeated the defending National Champion Miami Hurricanes. After entering the game in the eighth and giving up a walk, he went on to close out the inning and retire the side in order in the ninth.
Brooks' team-leading 60 strikeouts and 54.1 innings last season means he'll be on the hill quite a bit this spring making some exciting things happen.
Look for Brooks to open the big Princeton series this weekend and make a number of important starts throughout the spring.
Brian Nickerson '00 also received Ivy Honor Roll for his spring work. Hitting .318 in 44 at bats, Brian pounded out 14 hits with 12 RBIs.
Brian will be looking to regain the .463 type-hitting caliber of his freshman year. Last year marking his return from his sophomore season ending knee injury, the team captain will be looking to make a real impact this season.
Sliding over to third to cover for Mike Conway who graduated, Nickerson is expected to contribute to the revamped infield and provide an offensive boost in the strong Dartmouth lineup.
