MEN'S SOCCER: The men's soccer team lost to No. 2 Stanford yesterday in the final round of the Stanford/Nike Classic in Palo Alto, Calif. The Big Green, ranked No. 22 in the nation entering the weekend, beat No. 25 California, 2-1, in overtime on Friday night. Freshman Nicholas Magnusson '01 scored the game winner 10 minutes into overtime to give Dartmouth the come-from-behind victory. SAILING: The Big Green women's sailing team received the No. 1 ranking in this week's national poll by Sailing World Magazine.
The team moved up five spots to the top spot thanks to freshman skipper Erin Maxwell '01 and senior skipper Leigh Lucas '98, who both won their first two events of the 1997 fall campaign.
Dartmouth was also ranked No. 1 when they captured the national title in 1994.The co-ed squad is ranked 14th in this week's poll.
