Six Big Green laxers named to All-Ivy Teams

Six Dartmouth lacrosse stars were named to the 1997 All-Ivy lacrosse teams late yesterday afternoon.

The women's lacrosse squad led the Big Green in All-Ivy awards as all three captains earned spots on the Ivy League's First Team.

Kim Mendelson '97 was named as one of the league's best attackmen while Andrea Krumholz '97 and Kelly Hannigan '97 won awards for their stellar play on defense.

Mendelson, who is on the First Team for the second straight year, was slowed early in the season by an injury, but still managed 24 goals and two assists.

Krumholz, who was Second Team All-League a year ago, held her defensive assignments to a combined 14 goals this season.

Hannigan was tough on both ends of the field as she scored 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists) and recorded 64 groundballs/interceptions.

Rookie attack Jacque Weitzel earned Second Team All-Ivy honors as did starting Big Green goalie Sarah Carlson '99.

On the men's side, senior attack Brian Merritt was Dartmouth's lone representative on the All-Ivy roster as he earned Second Team honors for the 1997 season.
