Sports Roundup

BASEBALL: The Big Green spiked their win-streak to 15 games as they downed Brown, 8-6 and 10-2, yesterday. The victory improved the team to 19-7 overall, 11-1 Ivy.

In the first game, Dartmouth earned a down-to-the-win victory at its last at-bat. Freshman Brian Nickerson tied the game with a homer in the fifth inning before the Big Green scored the winning runs in the sixth inning.

Senior Andrew Spencer led the Big Green hitting 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and a pair of runs scored. Nickerson and Mike Conway '99 also went 3-for-4 at the plate.

The victory improved junior reliever Dan Godfrey's record to 6-0.

In Game 2, the Big Green came up huge on defense as freshman Conor Brooks allowed just eight hits and one earned run en route to a complete-game victory.

Dartmouth busted open the score in the bottom of the second inning with eight runs -- including a grand slam by Aaron Meyer '00.

Spencer was again the hitting leader for the Big Green as he belted 3-for-3 with three runs scored -- one of which was a solo homer in the first inning.

WOMEN'S GOLF: In action late Sunday, two Dartmouth women earned first team All-Ivy at the inaugural Ivy League women's golf championship.

Freshman Lauren Epstein shot 81-82-163 while sophomore Samantha Sommers carded 86-85-171 to finish among the top seven individuals and qualify for All-Ivy honors.

Dartmouth placed third overall behind Yale and Princeton.
