Softball late score

The Big Green (5-19) earned two shutouts yesterday as they blanked the Columbia Lions, 8-0 and 11-0, yesterday at Sachem Field. Both games were considered scrimmages since Columbia is still a club program and will join the Ivy League as a varsity squad next season.

Junior Christina Maybaum allowed only four hits while pitching a complete-game in the opener. At the plate, the Big Green jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before tacking on one run in the second and fifth and adding three more in the sixth.

In game two, Megan Costa '00 tossed a no-hitter in five innings of play as the Big Green drove in all 11 runs in the second through fourth innings to end the game on the mercy rule.
