Men's rugby wins two

The Dartmouth men's rugby club sailed through a tough weekend with flying colors, demolishing previously unbeaten Amherst College on Saturday to claim its third consecutive New England Championship and tying a tough Army team in a non-league match at Sachem Field on Sunday.

Captain and flyhalf Torbjorn Dimblad '97 scored three tries versus Amherst to lead the Big Green in scoring Saturday. The 48-3 win gave Dartmouth the championship of the New England Premier League for the third straight year and the fourth time in the last five years.

The DRFC have not lost a league game since 1993. The New England championship also gives the DRFC a home game for the first round of Northeast Playoffs on Nov. 2.

In their Sunday match, the Big Green hosted Army in a well-balanced game that kept spectators on their toes as the two teams traded try for try until the final whistle. The two decidedly matched teams ended in a 22-22 draw.

The DRFC are now 5-1-1 on the season. They play Brown during Homecoming this weekend in a league match.
