Soccer team prepares for fall

Just because over half the women's soccer team is off campus this summer, that doesn't mean playing doesn't continue for the Big Green women who are preparing for the upcoming fall season.

The eight varsity sophomores who are in Hanover for the summer not only engage in running workouts four days a week and weight training three days a week, but also meet three days a week at Sachem fields to play pick-up games.

"It's pretty much intended for us to get out there and get our feet on the ball," Cindy Goodwin '97 said. "It helps us keep up with our skills."

Because official practices do not begin until late August, the players meet on their own. Coaches can not be present, making motivation somewhat difficult at times.

"We might get into some bad habits because we don't have our coach there," Goodwin said. "I think as we get closer to preseason though, people will pick it up."

"We have our ups and downs," Captain Holly Thomas '97 said. "You just have to work through it like you would in season."
