Soccer dominates UNH, winning 2-0

The women's soccer team traveled to Amherst, N.H. last night and dominated the University of Hampshire 2-0, giving the Dartmouth women their first win of the season.

After a disappointing loss Sunday to the University of Connecticut, the Big Green was out to redeem themselves. With school beginning and schedules becoming settled, Coach Steve Swanson said he hopes the team will become steadier.

"With balancing school, I think they get that mental edge back, and when that happens, things become more stable and consistent," Swanson said.

The Big Green were lead by co-captain Mya Mangawang '96 who captured her first goal of the season to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead. Later, Kate Andrews '96 added Dartmouth's second goal with an assist from Cindy Goodwin '97.

Both Dartmouth's offense and its defense was sharp last night. They had 21 shots, and backup goalkeeper Heidi Hachtel '96 had five saves in the shutout. Hachtel replaced starting goalkeeper and captain Michelle Conroy '95 who was injured last week.
