Men swim against Bulldogs

The Big Green men's swim team, which has struggled this season, will host Yale on Saturday looking to improve their 1-8 record.

The Dartmouth swimmers, who surrendered a tough loss to the Army Cadets last weekend, will fight another battle this weekend when they face the powerhouse Yale Bulldogs.

Coach Jim Wilson will challenge Yale for the first time in his coaching career.

"Yale is a very strong team, and we're hoping for some very strong individual performances this weekend," he said.

Some of this weekend's highlights could come from Bob Halk '94 in the backstroke, Jason Stern '94 in the butterfly, or Ben Lanon '96 in the breaststroke.

Wilson said this year has been a rebuilding year for the Big Green. He said he was very pleased with his swimmers, but attributed his team's weak record to the relative strength of the other squads in the Ivy League.

The swimmers are gearing up for the Eastern Seaboard Championship at the U.S. Army Academy at Westport in March, and hope to turn their season around.

Wilson said his team is "a stronger championship team than a dual meet team" and he expects the squad to make a good showing."
