On April 22, the College announced the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative, a plan to invest more than $500 million into reducing carbon emissions over the next five years, according to past reporting by The Dartmouth. The Earth Day proposal — which plans to cut emissions by 60% by 2030 and 100% by 2050 — is the largest investment focused on sustainability in College history.
Dartmouth hosted a series of events to honor famed poet Robert Frost’s 150th birthday, according to English and comparative literature professor Donald Pease. The poet matriculated with the Class of 1896 but left Dartmouth during his first term, according to the Dartmouth Libraries website.

With the support of his team, medical education associate professor Dr. Thomas Thesen created AI Patient Actor — an app that simulates how a human patient would react to medical treatment and provides students with individualized feedback. Typically, medical students practice diagnosing human actors, also called standardized patients, but AI Patient Actor offers an alternative option that can be utilized anytime and anywhere. The Dartmouth spoke to Thesen to gain more insight into the creation, use and future of AI Patient Actor.

On Sept. 30, more than 500 community members participated in the Upper Valley’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, according to event co-chair Kathy Harvard. Sponsored by local businesses and participants, the roughly two-mile walk raised awareness and fundraised for the Alzheimer’s Association. As one of the 620 Alzheimer’s awareness walks that occur across the United States annually, the local walk raised $139,000 out of a $147,000 goal, Harvard added.
