Review: “Pachinko” brilliantly blurs the lines between past and present

On April 29, Apple TV+ aired the final episode of “Pachinko,” an eight-episode television drama based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Min-Jin Lee. The series was such a success that, on the same day the final episode aired, Apple announced the renewal of “Pachinko” for a second season — a well-deserved achievement. 


Big Time Rush capitalizes on nostalgia with their return

Big Time Rush is back, riding the wave of nostalgia sweeping over Gen Z. The announcement and timing of Big Time Rush’s official comeback on Twitter in July 2021 couldn’t have been more perfect: In a pessimistic post-pandemic world, Gen Z has found optimism in many of their favorite childhood TV shows, owing largely to platforms like TikTok and YouTube to further spread their obsession. 


Q&A: Katherine Forbes Riley ‘96 on her debut novel “The Bobcat”

Katherine Forbes Riley ‘96, a computational linguist and author, graduated from Dartmouth with a degree in linguistics with a concentration in pre-med. She went on to receive her doctorate in computational linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. In June 2019, Forbes Riley published her debut novel, “The Bobcat.” Some of her other creative works, including her short fiction work “Speaks My Language,” have appeared in the Wigleaf 2018 Top 50 list, among other literary magazines. For her creative writing, she has received the Inkslinger’s Award for Creative Excellence, an award presented by Buffalo Almanack to the best short story and art piece in each issue of the publication.
