Dartmouth's field hockey team could not reverse its bad fortunes on Wednesday evening, losing to the University of Vermont 4-2 at Scully-Fahey Field. Jordan Sedlacek '09 had a big night in goal for the Big Green (3-9), but her career-high 10 save performance could not keep the Catamounts from handing Dartmouth its fourth straight loss.

The Dartmouth field hockey team suffered a major setback in its Ivy League campaign this weekend, falling to Yale University 3-1 on a breezy Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey field. The loss puts the Big Green (3-6, 1-3 Ivy) in the lower half of the Ivy standings, and with only three more conference games to play, Dartmouth's chances of winning the conference have clearly grown slimmer.

The women's lacrosse team returned to Hanover on Sunday without the school's first women's NCAA title. After finishing as the national runner-up, feelings of disappointment would certainly be understandable. However, the team can take consolation in knowing that it lost to the best opponent after playing its best possible game on a national stage.

Headlining the recruiting class is Josh Gilliam from Peterborough, Ontario. Ranked 139th as a skater by NHL Central for North America, the 2004-2005 Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year scored 104 points with the Peterborough Stars last season. He was the second-leading scorer in the league for 2005-2006, and in 105 games with the Stars he recorded 163 points overall. Gilliam was also selected to play in the Canadian Junior A Top Prospects Game last season.

The Big Green lost to the Crimson 2-1 in ten innings and won the late game, 13-8, on Saturday in Cambridge. The teams returned to Hanover on Sunday as Dartmouth took game one 4-1, before being routed 23-9. Dartmouth's two losses gave Harvard the top spot in the division at 14-6, and the Crimson will advance to the Ivy League Championship series next weekend against Lou Gehrig champion Princeton.
