The women’s ice hockey team dropped games to both Quinnipiac University and Princeton University this weekend on the road. Despite the fact that the Big Green (7-15-1, 6-10-1 ECAC) lost to both teams earlier this season, players were confident coming into the weekend on a three-game win streak.

The women’s ice hockey team gained a critical four points this weekend, defeating Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Union College, both in come-from-behind fashion. The team now enjoys a three-game winning streak, which started with a 4-2 win over Colgate University on Jan. 18. The 2-1 win against Rensselaer (10-13-2, 6-7-1 ECAC) marked the second time that Dartmouth (7-13-1, 6-8-1 ECAC) has beaten the Engineers this season. Union College (8-17-1, 3-11-0 ECAC) won the two teams’ earlier meeting this season, but the Big Green took Saturday’s game 4-3 after surmounting a third period deficit.

The women’s ice hockey team had an inconsistent weekend, falling to No. 2 Cornell University on Friday, then coming from behind to win against Colgate University on Saturday. The Big Green (5-13-1, 4-8-1 ECAC) was shut out against Cornell (14-2-3, 9-1-2 ECAC) 3-0. Dartmouth rallied from a one goal first period deficit to beat Colgate (5-17-2, 2-10-0 ECAC) 4-2 on Saturday.

Before sunrise on Dec. 9, Big Green swimmers and divers set off on a training trip to Puerto Rico, only a few hours after they finished competing in the Big Al Open hosted by Princeton University. The 10-day trip pushed athletes to work hard but allowed them to enjoy each other’s company in the sun — a bonding experience unlike any campus training.

The women’s ice hockey team had a busy weekend with a Friday night victory at home against Colgate University and a Saturday afternoon home loss to No. 3 Cornell University. The 1-1 weekend puts the Big Green at 2-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in the ECAC. Dartmouth took down Colgate (3-11-0, 1-7-0 ECAC) 2-1 in a hard-fought match, but fell 4-2 to Cornell (8-0-2, 6-0-2 ECAC) after allowing three goals in the first period.

The field hockey team fell to Cornell University 3-0 in its final home game of the year on Saturday. The loss was Dartmouth’s 10th of the season, bringing its overall record to 7-10 and its Ivy record to 3-4. Despite a hard-fought first half, the Big Green allowed three goals in the second, putting the team in a difficult position to win.

The men’s and women’s crew teams traveled to New Jersey last weekend for the Princeton Chase, where they saw mixed results. The top eight and top four for men’s heavyweight finished 36th and 24th, respectively, while the same boats for men’s lightweight both came 12th. The women’s team performed better, with its top eight coming in ninth and its top four coming in fourth.

The volleyball team held on Friday night in Leede Arena for a hard-fought upset victory against a strong Harvard University team that currently sits in second place in the Ancient Eight. After falling to Harvard (10-7, 5-3 Ivy) earlier in the season, the team pulled together to defeat its rival in five sets and obtain a 10-10 overall record and a 3-5 Ivy League record.

According to the NCAA Sport Science Institute, a concussion is "a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain, induced by biomechanical forces" with side effects that can be physical, cognitive, emotional or sleep-related. The current NCAA policy on treating concussions is to remove players who have sustained a head injury from play or practice and keep them out until they have received medical clearance. This is a change from past tactics, where athletes were set back to play if they remembered their name or could count to five. The problem now lies in preventing concussions from occurring.

Thirteen years after the release of the cult movie "American Psycho," Jesse Singer '02 will produce a new theater adaptation of the 1991 Bret Easton Ellis novel that inspired the film. "American Psycho: the Musical," which revisits the story of Patrick Bateman, a wealthy, young investment banker with a taste for the violent and racy, is sure to make waves when it hits the stage in London's West End this winter.

The men's and women's cross-country teams finished third and 14th, respectively, at the New England Cross Country Championship this weekend at Franklin Park in Boston. The men's team was led by Matt Herzig '17, who crossed the finish line 16th overall in 24:54 for the 8K. Helen Schlachtenhaufen '17 finished first for the women with in 18:10 for the 5K, good for 53rd place.

Pierre is used to receiving accolades for his football prowess. After his first season, he took home the Earl Hamilton Freshman Award, an honor given to the freshman who contributes most to the team, and the Jake Crouthamel Award after his next two seasons, which is given to the sophomore or junior who aids the most on the offensive side of the ball.
