The Dartmouth women’s ice hockey team concluded its season with a difficult road trip against Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University. Dartmouth has largely struggled with tough competition this year. Despite Clarkson and St. Lawrence both currently ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA, the Big Green hoped to finish its season off strong.

Dartmouth men’s hockey has been successful as of late, toppling some of the best teams in the country and playing very strong hockey. Last weekend, the Big Green went on its yearly “North Country” trip, playing games at St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University. This has historically been a very difficult road trip for the Big Green as the men have only won both away games once in the past five years, during the 2013-14 season. This road trip is one of the key points for the Big Green during the Eastern College Athletic Conference schedule and often serves a benchmark showing how the team is progressing. Both opponents on this road trip have historic backgrounds and are regular contenders in the ECAC.

Hanover has always been a haven for hockey, hosting several great teams including a few NCAA Frozen Four squads. Coming into the 2016-2017 season, expectations were high for Dartmouth’s men’s hockey. In the past few years, the Big Green has struggled, but the team’s goals never change. The Eastern College Athletic Conference is yet again loaded with top ranking teams, both Ivy and non-Ivy League, but the veteran core of the Big Green is determined to make some noise in the conference this year. After going to the ECAC semifinals two years ago, the Big Green is hungry for more.

Dartmouth football entered Friday’s much anticipated Fenway Park showdown with Brown University in need of a clean win. But even with Saturday’s result, a 33-10 victory with solid performances on both sides of the ball, Dartmouth needs help to take home an Ivy League championship.

As the season comes to a close, each matchup becomes a do-or-die for the football team. Saturday’s matchup with Cornell University was no different — a loss would have ended any realistic hopes for a piece of the Ivy League crown. This week, the defense starred, holding together a 10-0 shutout at Memorial Field on Saturday.

With its Ivy League Championship hopes largely in the balance, the Big Green had questions to answer on Saturday against Harvard University. However, the men fell short in key situations and suffered a 14th-straight loss to the Crimson, leaving the Big Green in need of serious help to win a conference championship.

It was an afternoon filled with frustration and untimely mistakes for the Big Green against Columbia University at Memorial Field on Saturday. Despite mounting a strong comeback in the latter half, Dartmouth fell to the Lions, 22-17, in a matchup that came down to clock management and officiating. With its perfect record tarnished, the Big Green no longer controls its destiny in the Ivy League Championship race.

It was a day of nail-biting action at Campus Field in Fairfield, Connecticut as the Big Green took down out-of-league foe Scared Heart University 29-26. The game featured an abundance of twists and turns as Sacred Heart really seemed to control the pace of the game well at times. But in the end Jack Heneghan ’18 connected with Emory Thompson ’18 twice in the second half to complete yet another sizable comeback.

Unlike last week against the University of Pennsylvania and the previous week against Holy Cross University, Dartmouth didn’t wait until the last play of the game to beat Yale University on Saturday. This time they did it with 34 seconds remaining. Drew Hunnicutt ’19’s 15-yard touchdown catch completed the largest comeback in Dartmouth history to lead the Big Green over Yale 28-27.

Dartmouth football pulled out a win on the last play to defeat the co-defending Ivy League champion University of Pennsylvania, 16-13, at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Friday night. With only three seconds left on 4th and goal, football head coach Buddy Teevens ’79 dialed up a run. Quarterback Jared Gerbino ’20 took the snap and punched it into the end zone as time expired, leading the Big Green to its third straight victory, improving to 3-0 on the season. With its first Ivy League win under its belt, along with a win against a College of the Holy Cross team that was then-ranked 25th in the FCS Coaches Poll, the Big Green seems to be poised for success going into the heart of its schedule.

The Big Green men’s soccer team has been lights-out of late, posting an impressive five straight wins. Its most recent 5-2 victory over the University of Vermont this past Saturday improved its season record to 5-2-0. Part of the reason for the team’s early success is first-year goalkeeper Christopher Palacios ’21. Even against the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, which was ranked 25th in the nation at the time, Palacios and the veteran backs of the Big Green were able to hold together a shutout 1-0 win.
