Madison Sabol ’18 has come up with a way to greatly reduce the College’s carbon footprint. After two years of research and assistance from the Dartmouth Office of Sustainability and Dartmouth Dining Services, she has created the “Green2Go” food takeout program, which replaces the disposable to-go containers in the Class of 1953 Commons with reusable ones.
On June 5, College President Phil Hanlon joined several university presidents in signing a letter in support of the Paris Climate Accord.
Throughout its 78 years, the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge has been a site of meaningful connection for the College community. In an effort to digitally memorialize these shared experiences following the building’s reconstruction, Connor Gibson ’16 and Gigi Anderson ’16 launched a website, “Sharing the Mountain,” last week.
Staci Mannella ’18 is one of the youngest members of the United States Paralympian Alpine National team. Mannella placed sixth at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014 and has been skiing since the age of four despite having been born with achromatopsia, a genetic visual acuity to three feet. At Dartmouth, Mannella is a member of the equestrian team, which won the Ivy League Championship in April. At the Ivy Championship, Mannella took first in the Intermediate Fences, fourth in the Open Fences Championship and sixth in Novice Flat. She sat down with Alyssa Mehra ’19 to discuss Olympic glory, balancing multiple winning teams and her plans for the future.
Tong Fei has just started her position as the healthy relationships and sexual health specialist, a new role created within the Health and Wellness Center. In the position, she will take over the Sexperts, a sexual health peer education program on campus, and develop programs encouraging healthy relationships, assistant director for violence prevention Amanda Childress said.

Last December, Rex Woodbury ’15 came across an article about a recent Guinness World Record for the fastest half-marathon run in a business suit. The record was held by Gihan Amarasiriwardena — co-founder of menswear company, Ministry of Supply — set at 1 hour 24 minutes and 41 seconds. On March 21, Woodbury put on a suit and ran 13.1 miles in 1 hour, 18 minutes and 41 seconds.
In 2007, Thayer engineering professor Tillman Gerngross founded Adimab, an antibody discovery company that develops therapeutic antibodies against infectious disease targets, alongside his colleague and Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Dane Wittrup. The company recently developed a new technology that allows them to quickly identify antibodies effective at combating diseases such as Ebola, Zika and other viruses.
Last Thursday at approximately 2:50 a.m., two plastic trash bins were intentionally set on fire in Streeter Hall. No injuries were reported and an investigation is underway.

One year and two days ago, Salman Rajput ’14, Carly Carlin ’15 and software engineer Annie Tuan founded the fitness app Simple Steps. Recently named the “Best Health App of 2015” by Men’s Fitness, Rajput said that thousands of people are now using it to track their health.
On Wednesdays, the “Sonic Landscapes” class transforms Rollins Chapel into exotic places through sound — a rainforest, an Antarctic shore, a Siberian tundra. The interdisciplinary course, taught by music professor Theodore Levin and film and media studies professor Carlos Casas, explores the intersection of music and media studies.
The seventh annual Student Forum on Global Learning, which took place this past Monday, gave students a opportunity to reflect on world perspectives they gained during time they spent off campus. The event attracted students, professors, Upper Valley members and high school students from Kimball Union Academy and St. Johnsbury Academy — private schools in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Sexual Assault Peer Advocates met this week to discuss the future of the program, after undergoing a shift in leadership last term. Starting this term, Liz Stahler, a counseling and human development staff counsellor, will lead the educational component of SAPA, as well as design the training for the program.
