From April 2 to April 3, the Dartmouth Fencing Team joined 37 other participating teams to compete in the 2016 USACFC, the largest collegiate fencing event, at Brown University’s Olney-Margolies Athletic Center. The entire team performed extraordinarily across the board, notching a second place finish.

The Dartmouth men’s tennis team’s 2015-16 season has been rock solid, with the team currently sporting an impressive 15-8 record. The team has scored highlight wins over many quality opponents, including then No. 37 Drake University and then No. 32 Tulane University.

On Feb. 27, the No. 38 men’s tennis team defeated two more teams to bring its ongoing win streak to five games. Hosting both teams at the Boss Tennis Center, the Big Green first defeated St. John’s University in a close rematch 4-3 and followed up the win by demolishing Sacred Heart University 7-0.

On Feb. 19, the then No. 40, now No. 38 Dartmouth men’s tennis team followed up its two victories over Brown University and St. John’s University last week to win its third consecutive match, defeating the then No. 45, now unranked University of Minnesota 5-2 at the Boss Tennis Center. Over the past weekend, the then No. 41, now No. 31 Dartmouth women’s team dominated its two opponents, defeating the then No. 58, now No. 56 Minnesota Gophers 7-0 and the University of Massachusetts 6-1. The win against UMass was the team’s fifth consecutive victory, improving the team’s overall record to 6-2. In the season, the team has also won an astounding seven out of eight of its double points, propelling the team to consistently start out with an early lead.

Over the weekend, the No. 34 Dartmouth men’s tennis team played in the ECAC Indoor Championship in Philadelphia, which consisted of St. John’s University and all the Ivy League teams except Columbia University. The team played a total of three teams during the tournament, falling to the University of Pennsylvania in a tough 3-4 battle but rallying to defeat Brown University 4-0 and St. John’s 4-1 to secure fifth place.

Over the weekend, the No. 32 Dartmouth women’s tennis team hosted the ECAC Winter Championship, which consisted of all the Ivy League teams except the University of Pennsylvania. The team finished third, falling in a close battle to No. 58 Columbia University 4-3 before defeating No. 54 Brown University 4-3. On the road, the No. 34 men’s team was unable to replicate last week’s amazing victories, falling to both No. 32 North Carolina State University 5-2 and No. 61 Old Dominion University 4-3.

On Jan. 23 and 24, the women’s tennis team kicked off the new year by splitting its first two matches. The team fell to the No. 23 University of Kentucky 1-4 before dominating the University of San Francisco 4-1. On Jan. 30 and 31, the men’s tennis team continued its fantastic season by winning two nail-biters against No. 37 Drake University and No. 32 Tulane University with final team scores of 4-3 against both.

On Jan. 22 and 24, No. 41 Dartmouth men’s tennis continued its frenetic stretch of January matches by splitting its two home games, dominating No. 72 Clemson University 6-1 but falling in a narrow loss to No. 53 Pennsylvania State University 2-4. The team’s overall record stands at 3-1.

From Oct. 22 to Oct. 26, eight members of the men’s tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Yale University. Dovydas Sakinis ’16 became the second Big Green singles player — and the first since 1992 — to capture the championship with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Columbia University freshman Victor Pham. Roko Glasnovic ’19 and Diego Pedraza ’17 came just short of winning the doubles title for Darmouth, losing to Columbia juniors Richard Pham and Shawn Hadavi in the final round in three sets, 6-2, 3-6 (10-8).

After beginning practices in early October, the basketball team hosted an exhibition match against Keiser University on Oct. 29, and with a final score of 81-51, the Big Green dominated the game. In the demolition, four Dartmouth players scored in double figures, with Guilien Smith ’19 leading the way with 14 points on 5-for-11 shooting.

On Oct. 31, the men’s ice hockey team will formally kick off its 2015-16 season with a home game against Harvard University. The team has finished within the top five seeds in the competitive ECAC conference 11 of the last 15 years and in second place in the Ivy League four of the last five years. The previous season added to the team’s historic success, as the team tied for fourth place in the 12-team ECAC with Colgate University and finished in second place in the Ivy League behind Yale University. The team went on to sweep Princeton University in two games before falling to Colgate in the second round of the ECAC Hockey playoffs. Led by head coach Bob Gaudet ’81, the Big Green looks to build off last year’s strong season.

The Dartmouth men’s tennis team hosted its first event of the 2015-16 season, the Dartmouth Invitational, this past weekend. A total of nine teams — Amherst College, Brown University, Fairfield University, Middlebury College, the State University of New York at Buffalo, the United States Military Academy, Williams College and Yale University — participated in the tournament at the Boss Tennis Center. Over the three-day tournament, Dartmouth went 14-7 in singles and 9-1 in doubles.

Propelled by an excellent second-place performance from John Lazor ‘19, the men’s golf team won the two-day Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge in Vermont over 11 other competing teams. After a last-place finish at twelfth in the Fighting Irish Golf Classic a week earlier, the team regrouped to score a collective two-over par (578), successfully holding off second-place University of Rhode Island by four strokes and third-place Harvard University by five strokes.
