Students fall victim to anonymous ‘blitzjacks'
Students across campus received an e-mail Thursday night apparently from their own BlitzMail accounts purporting to be a "blitzjack" and directing them to a website labeled "Bored at Berry." The source of the e-mails, which appears to also be behind an e-mail sent out to campus Sunday that seems to be sent from College President Jim Yong Kim's account, remains unclear as of Sunday night.
INTERNET MEME OF THE WEEK: 3D Sidewalk Art
Drive the streets of London and you may run into an exposed underground cave, with a vast lake of eerie, glowing liquid and stalactites hanging from underneath the sidewalk. But when people walk into this cave they seem to stay on the plane of the street. The realistic-looking "cave" is actually an optical illusion, painted by 3D street artist Edgar Mueller of Germany. This vast work, which stretches across the entire width of a promenade in West India Quay in the Docklands of London, is one of many projects Mueller and other 3D street artists are painting throughout Europe. Other Mueller works include a lava burst splitting down the residential street of a small German town, a waterfall in Slovenia and a crevasse from the Ice Age. Mueller's works and background on street painting are on display at www.metanamorph.com.
Forthcoming Girl Talk album to sample Fugazi
Mash-up music has a way of attracting attention to artists from fans who would not otherwise take an interest in their music. Skeptics find it in them to appreciate the guitar loop of Miley Cyrus' "Party in the U.S.A." the moment Nas, Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G. are overlaid onto it, just as Grizzly Bear fans may have been opened up to the catalog of revolutionary rappers Dead Prez thanks to The Hood Internet's "Two Weeks of Hip Hop."
Colbert and Stewart mix comedy, politics in ‘Sanity' rally
On the Sept. 16 episode of "The Daily Show," Stewart initially announced his plans to hold a "Rally to Restore Sanity" in response to conservative pundit Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally that occurred on the Mall in August. Later that evening on "The Colbert Report," Colbert told audiences about his counter-rally, the "March to Keep Fear Alive." The two comedians agreed to merge their rallies after event-licensing issues supposedly almost derailed Colbert's rally.
Daily Debriefing
The family of late Tuck School of Business professor Leonard Morrissey has made a donation to Hanover's Howe Library that will allow it to be open seven days a week, the Valley News reported. The library had previously closed on Sundays during the summer. Sundays during the school year are the library's busiest days, according to the Valley News. Although Morrissey's family did not disclose the full amount of the gift, interest from the donation will be enough to cover the $4,200 needed to expand hours.

Ross, a managing partner at venture capital firm SV Life Sciences, said venture capital has helped to spur job growth in the health care industry and create new treatments for HIV.
Candidates campaign at GOP rally
John Stephen, Kelly Ayotte and former Rep. Charlie Bass '74 the Republican candidates for N.H. governor, the state's open Senate seat and the state's 2nd congressional district seat in the House of Representatives, respectively held a rally with their Upper Valley supporters at the Top of the Hop on Sunday afternoon. The rally was the first time all three top GOP candidates had been in the same room throughout the campaign, according to Danny Kim '11, president of the Dartmouth College Republicans.
Freshmen rush field, touch fire
"I'd say it was the same number of both arrests and offenses in general," he said.
Short Answer
Friday's Verbum Ultimum concerned President Jim Yong Kim's discussion of binge drinking and sexual assault at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences meeting. Should professors be involved, or should other issues have been discussed?
The Great Imbalance
There are two paths from which any Dartmouth sophomore must choose. One is a road of leisure, of plentiful extracurriculars and grades boosted by participation. The other is one of hardship and darkness, of all-nighters, never-ending lab reports and low median grades on exams. These paths diverge when the student is forced to pick a major: Will it be natural sciences, or the social sciences and humanities?
P90xing with Dolan
Last week I wrote a column titled "P90Xing with Dolan." The only issue was about halfway through I realized there was no shot I could finish in one column. While one option when you can't finish is just to fake it, that's a little shameful, so I decided to make it a two-part piece.
ONE-ON-ONE: Pappas and Mkosana
After their goals late in the second half put Dartmouth ahead of Harvard University in the Homecoming soccer game Saturday night, I sat down with Nick Pappas '12 and Lucky Mkosana '12 to talk about the thrill of late-game heroics in front of a home crowd.
Hockey teams go 3-1 against League opponents
Headed into this weekend, women's coach Mark Hudak said he was confident about this team's progression in the preseason.
