Midway through the second half of their first round game, Lute Olson found his Arizona Wildcats down by 10 to Bill Musselman's 13th seeded South Alabama Jaguars. Olson needed someone on his team to step up and get his team back into the game. He wanted to turn to his star player, give him the ball and ask him to win the game for him, like he did with Damon Stoudamire and Sean Elliot, but he couldn't, cause that player wasn't there.

One week ago last Sunday, Mike Tyson, the epitome of brashness and supreme self-confidence, was thoroughly pummeled by Evander Holyfield. Until the start of this season, the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League were the most dominant team in professional sports history. The Raiders were the most dominant presence in professional football, if not all of sports from the late 1960s through the mid 70s. Just as imperious was the personality of the team's owner, Al Davis, whose rebellious attitude and abrasive nature were focused on winning and nothing else. His ubiquitous message of "Just win baby," would become the commanding theme in sports.

If I spit at a professor's face, being the non-athlete, non-legacy student that I am, my academic career here at the college on the hill would more or less be over. If I spit at my boss' face, assuming I had a job, I would most definitely get fired. If I spit at my father's face, he would most assuredly attempt to beat me to a pulp. I think we get the idea here. Spitting at a person, not to mention at that person's face, is a vile, degrading and dehumanizing act, and deserves the harshest punishment.
