Since the inauguration of what seems to be becoming a daily tantrum in a chamber pot, the previous administration and Congress appear more sophisticated and productive by a mere tweet. Currently, Washington D.C. is a circus of feckless sycophants working with an ill-coiffed buffoon. A greater degree of equanimity would sharpen the responses that are working to render this embarrassing moment in US history only four years in duration.

This Saturday’s Relay for Life raised $23,514.50 for cancer research from 47 teams and 364 participants. The event ran from 6 p.m. Saturday night to 6 a.m. Sunday morning in Leverone Field House and saw an increase of 50 participants compared to last year.

Award-winning director and filmmaker and current Montgomery Fellow Thomas Allen Harris will bring his Digital Diaspora Roadshow to the College next month. The piece, a companion transmedia project to “Through A Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People,” focuses on promoting audiences to discover connections between their own family archives and the film’s historical narrative.

In a sold-out Alumni Hall, the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network Innovation Center hosted the Dartmouth Entrepreneurs Forum last Friday, a bi-annual conference and startup competition that takes place at Dartmouth in the spring and San Francisco in the fall. This year’s attendance had to be capped at 380 people, in what Jamie Coughlin, director of the DEN, called “a tremendous response” in comparison with last year’s attendance of 312. At the event, there were 32 speakers and two keynotes, as well as 50 contestants in the competition.

Ten veterans will join the College’s Class of 2020 through a partnership with the Posse Foundation’s Veterans Program. The “posse” of seven male and three female veterans will be funded and supported throughout their four years of college. Dartmouth is one of three schools to participate in the program.

The town of Hanover recently started a pilot program with Upper Valley Rideshare in which commuters can coordinate carpools. Upper Valley Rideshare’s online platform will help users form rideshare groups, which are charged a reduced fee for parking in the Marshall Lot at 41 South Main Street.

Computer science doctoral student Tim Pierson’s new device may seem to many like a magic wand. Better known as “Wanda,” the programmed wand allows users to securely connect wireless devices to a Wi-Fi network with a tap, removing a number of security risks in the process.

For over two centuries Dartmouth has provided financial aid to its students. After recruitment ended on Wednesday, 117 women received bids, with 80 from formal Panhellenic sorority recruitment and 37 from shake-out, Panhellenic Council recruitment chair Sarah Young ’16 said. An average of 13 bids were accepted per house, Panhell recruitment chair Abigail Hartley ’16 said. During this year’s winter sorority recruitment, Sigma Delta piloted a shake-out process for the first time, instead of participating in the Panhellenic recruitment process.
