Dartmouth had a packed schedule this year to celebrate Veterans Day, including ceremonies, discussions and events. The celebration, which took place over the period between Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, was scheduled similarly to years past.

Nine first-year medical students at the Geisel School of Medicine have been awarded the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, which provides students with funding to complete innovative projects that improve the health, safety and welfare of the community. Do medical students and their clinical evaluators agree on what constitutes actionable, constructive and helpful feedback? That is the question that internal medicine clerkship director and Geisel School of Medicine professor Hilary Ryder attempted to answer in her study, entitled “Understanding what we say: varying cultural competency amongst faculty evaluators on the internal medicine clerkship.” Through her research, which she conducted alongside University of Texas at Austin professor and former Dartmouth anthropology professor Lauren Gulbas, Ryder found that faculty evaluators and medical students often do not agree on what helpful evaluations look like.
On July 1, Rabbi Meir Goldstein will start his tenure as the Michael Steinberg ’61 Rabbi and executive director of Dartmouth Hillel. He succeeds Rabbi Edward Boraz, who will leave the College on June 30 after a 20-year tenure.
The COVER Store in White River Junction recently launched a program called COVERBooks to sell donated books online to customers around the country, in addition to its current operations as a thrift store that sells donated materials such as furniture, appliances and building materials.
