The men’s lacrosse team opened up the season with a narrow 10-8 loss to Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, putting the Big Green at 0-1 and Sacred Heart at 2-1.
Over Winter Carnival weekend, the then No. 5 men’s squash team fell 8-1 to then No. 4, now No. 2 Yale University in Hanover, followed by a 7-2 victory over No. 16 Brown University in Providence. The team finished the regular season 9-4 and ultimately ranked seventh in the country.
After a three-week break, the No. 5 men’s squash team stormed back onto the courts this past weekend to secure a thrilling victory against No. 12 Cornell University 5-4 before losing to No. 8 Columbia University 5-4 the next day. The women’s team also travelled to New York but dropped both games to Cornell and Columbia 8-1. Then on Tuesday, both the men and women’s squash teams picked up wins, traveling to Williams College and sweeping the Ephs. The men’s team (8-3, 3-2) continued their remarkable season with a 6-3 victory, while the No. 11 women (4-8, 0-5) ended its two-game skid with a 5-4 nail-biter.
At the last home game of the season, No. 5 Dartmouth sealed the victory against No. 9 Drexel University 6-3, raising the Big Green to 6-2 overall (2-1 Ivy) while dropping the Dragons to 7-4.
Dartmouth’s men’s squash team continues its trend of making history by defeating then-No. 11 Princeton University 8-1 for the first time in Ivy League history on Saturday before losing a nail-biter to new No. 1 University of Pennsylvania 4-5. The Big Green took down Harvard University 5-4 in December for the team’s first win against the Crimson in nearly 70 years. Dartmouth’s weekend brings the Big Green to 5-2 on the season.
The men’s squash team stormed into the new season with a strong 4-1 start, highlighted by a historic win over Harvard University on Dec. 1. The 5-4 win was the Big Green’s first against the Crimson in 73 years. In addition to playing Harvard over interim, the team also faced Franklin & Marshall College, the United States Naval Academy, George Washington University and Trinity College, winning in every matchup except the last.
In a nail-biter from start to finish, the women’s rugby team successfully managed to fight back against reigning title holder No. 12 Brown University for the win. With the score tied 12-12 and only eight minutes remaining in the game, Audrey Perez ’17 broke free for the Ivy League Championship-winning try. Dartmouth converted its extra point and held on to the lead, ending the game with a 19-12 victory and its first Ivy League title in its debut season as a varsity program.
In its fifth game of the season, Dartmouth’s women’s rugby team (4-1, 4-0 Ivy) remained undefeated in the Ivy League with its victory over Harvard University (3-2, 2-2 Ivy) at Brophy Field.
In its fourth game of the season, the women’s rugby team beat Princeton University (0-2, 0-2 Ivy), launching the Big Green (3-1, 3-0 Ivy) to first place in the Ivy League as the only still undefeated team in the standings.
In its third game of the season, the women’s rugby team (2-1, 2-0 Ivy) secured an 8-5 win against Brown University’s previously undefeated team (3-1, 2-1 Ivy). Brown, ranked No. 12 in the nation by the Goff Rugby Reports, won the Ivy League last year and had not lost an Ivy 15s game since 2013. After beating Brown, Dartmouth moved to No. 11 in the nation on Goff Rugby Reports.
