Last season, it was impossible to talk about the men’s Nordic team without mentioning Fabian Stocek ’17 in the same breath. On a deep Big Green team with several skiers who would be top point-winners at other Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association schools, Stocek was in a league of his own, dominating the carnival circuit with eight wins in 12 races. As Dartmouth eyes the 2018 NCAA Championship, Stocek is the lone departure from team that represented Dartmouth at the 2017 championship and finished fourth.

While most Dartmouth students were enjoying their six weeks winter break between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, Big Green winter sports were in full swing.
After five seasons as the head coach of men’s soccer, Chad Riley was named men’s soccer head coach at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame.

Another week, another win over a top-three national power for the rugby team. Two weeks after narrowly beating defending national champion Quinnipiac University, the Big Green steamrolled the preseason No. 3 United States Military Academy by a score of 45-7. With its first-ever win against Army, Dartmouth is undefeated through the most difficult portion of its schedule.

Recounting the college athletic careers of Big Green head coaches
Dartmouth officials confirmed earlier this month that the college is “evaluating” the operations of the Hanover Country Club. Shuttering the golf course could directly affect the Big Green golf teams, according to former team members, whose players would lose an easily accessible practice facility and an important selling point for recruits.
