The men’s squash team earned their first win over Cornell University since the 2007-2008 season this Sunday, finishing with a 5-4 victory in a four-match weekend at the Berry Squash Courts. The women would not fare as well, falling to the Big Red 8-1. The men’s and women’s teams faced Columbia University on Saturday, but ultimately lost both matches. The No. 11 men (4-6, 1-4) fell to No. 4 Columbia 7-2, and the No. 7 women (4-6, 0-5) fell to No. 9 Columbia 6-3.

The men’s and women’s squash teams came out on top in the first matches of their four-game home stands, as they both scored victories over Bates College at the Berry Squash Courts on Sunday. With decisive 7-2 victories, the No. 7 women (4-4, 0-3) topped No. 15 Bates (6-8), and the No. 11 men (3-5, 0-3) overcame the No. 16 Bobcats (7-7).

The No. 10 women’s squash team notched two upsets in a successful trip to New Haven, Connecticut this past weekend. At Yale University’s Brady Squash Courts, the Big Green (3-4, 0-3) beat No. 7 Stanford University 7-2 on Saturday and No. 8 George Washington University 5-4 on Sunday. The No. 8 men’s team, also in New Haven, lost 7-2 to the No. 4 University of Rochester.

The men’s and women’s squash teams each had busy weekends, both beating Drexel University and falling to the University of Pennsylvania, ranked no. 3 in women’s, and Princeton University, ranked no. 9 in men’s and no. 5 in women’s. The Big Green no. 8 men (2-4, 0-3) and no. 10 women (1-4, 0-3) beat Drexel 7-2 and 5-4, respectively. The men fell to Penn 7-2 and Princeton 6-3, while the women fell to both 9-0, though Hanna Balcha ’17 won the exhibition match against Penn in a long, tough five-game battle.

Squash is a one-on-one game, a sport in which two players enclose themselves in a court with just a ball and two rackets. Dartmouth’s varsity squash players work so hard during their matches that their heart can beat upwards of 180 times each minute. The intense, fast-paced play can make it hard to even think, let alone concentrate on the game at hand. But the players execute anyway.

The women’s basketball team beat the New Jersey Institute of Technology Sunday in overtime 68-63 in its season opener at Leede Arena, despite shooting under 37 percent from the field.

The women’s soccer team lost its final game of the season Saturday 1-0 at Cornell University. The Big Green (8-5-4, 3-1-3 Ivy) took the second-place spot in the Ivy League Saturday, four points behind Harvard University. Cornell (8-9-0, 2-5-0 Ivy) moved up from last place in the Ivy League to seventh with the win.

The women’s soccer team won its last home game of the season Saturday, beating Harvard University 2-0 at Burnham Field. Corey Delaney ’16 scored both goals, one in each half, to keep the Dartmouth women alive in the Ancient Eight.

Dartmouth’s road trip to New York, which will continue Monday against Marist College, began in victory Saturday with a 1-0 triumph over Columbia University. Tasha Wilkins ’15 drove a free kick that muscled its way into the net to give Dartmouth the lead in the 19th minute, and the Big Green never let the lead slip away.

The women’s soccer team beat the University of Pennsylvania 2-0 in front of a raucous crowd on Homecoming Saturday at Burnham Field to break its five-game winless streak and notch this season’s first Ivy League win. Corey Delaney ’16 scored the first goal, her second of the season, and Jackie Friedman ’16 added the insurance tally to pace the Big Green (4-4-4, 1-0-3 Ivy) to the victory.

Dartmouth notched its fourth tie of the season Saturday night in its scoreless match against Yale University at Burnham Field. The Big Green (3-3-4, 0-0-3 Ivy) outshot the Bulldogs (5-2-3, 0-1-2 Ivy) 16-7 on the night in a back-and-forth battle that extended its home unbeaten streak to 17 games.

The women’s soccer team wrestled to a 2-2 draw at Princeton University Saturday, keeping both squads’ Ivy loss columns empty. The team’s third straight overtime game featured 13 saves and 34 shots. Despite holding the lead twice, the Big Green (3-3-3, 0-0-2 Ivy) could not snatch a win against the Tigers (2-3-3, 1-0-1 Ivy).
