Aiming to ease student stress levels, Wake Forest University transformed its campus quad as part of a larger initiative to focus on the "whole student" and enhance campus well-being, Inside Higher Ed reported. The university hired Dan Biederman, who redeveloped New York City's Bryant Park, to introduce outdoor seating, board games, classrooms and a piano, among other features, into the space. In addition, Wake Forest will hire a new director of student well-being, introduce Gallup polling to measure student responses and create other pilot projects. Professors and administrators said they hope to encourage students to "unplug" from their devices more often to promote face-to-face interaction.

No Dartmouth swimmer has gone to the NCAA Championships since 1980, but that streak ended this year, when Nejc Zupan '14 qualified in three events: the 200-yard individual medley, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke. The Slovenian native also finished eighth in the nation in the 200-yard breaststroke. This is almost unprecedented territory for a Dartmouth swimmer, and territory that Zupan may well reach again next year.

This loss extended the Dartmouth men's losing streak against top-25 opponents to eight. The last time the Big Green beat a ranked opponent was in the season opener of the 2012 campaign, when they beat No. 19 Colgate University. The team has now lost 15 of 16 past contests to the Big Red.

The Dartmouth men's and women's hockey teams struggled against tough competition over the past two weeks, combining to go 0-3-2 in five games, three of which came against top-10 opponents. The men (5-2-2, 4-1-1 ECAC) went 0-2-1 in their last three, falling to Colgate University (6-6-2, 1-3-1 ECAC) and No. 1 Boston College (9-1, 8-1 Hockey East) and tying No. 10 Cornell University (3-3-2, 1-3-2 ECAC). The women (4-2-2, 3-2-1 ECAC) went 0-1-1 in their weekend set, falling in overtime to No. 2 Cornell (9-2, 7-1 ECAC) and tying Colgate (3-10-2, 0-6-2 ECAC).

The Big Green dominated the high-scoring affair in New Haven, Conn., despite the close score. Dartmouth outshot the Bulldogs, 44-22, and scored in every period. Goaltender Lindsay Holdcroft '14 notched 18 saves en route to her second win of the season.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand '88, D-N.Y., and former Democratic Maine Gov. Angus King '66, now an independent, won their respective races for Senate, while alumni Wendy Long '82 and John MacGovern '80 lost their Senatorial bids. Gillibrand defeated Long decisively in New York; King easily defeated his opponents and incumbent Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., beat MacGovern for the junior Senate seat in Vermont by a wide margin.

The speeches were part of a larger rally that also featured Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., and democratic New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch. All speakers stressed the need for New Hampshire residents to vote on Tuesday. With many polls indicating that the race is close, New Hampshire's four electoral votes could make the difference in the election.

The win over Yale was the first by Dartmouth since 2008, when the Big Green offense had a similar eruption in a 7-2 win. The two teams played to a 2-2 tie last weekend in the Ivy Shootout before Dartmouth moved on with a shootout win.

The Dartmouth women's hockey team split its weekend series against Princeton University and Quinnipiac University, defeating the Tigers, 3-1, in Princeton before falling to the Bobcats, 8-3, in Hamden, Conn. The weekend featured both strong goaltending in the season opener against Princeton (2-2-0, 0-2-0 ECAC) and costly mistakes in the game against Quinnipiac (4-3-1, 1-1-0 ECAC).

The Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams saw mixed results at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Saturday in Princeton, N.J. The Big Green men rode top-10 finishes from Will Geoghegan '14 and Phil Royer '13 to a second consecutive third-place finish. The Dartmouth women, missing four of their top seven runners due to injuries, including defending champion Abbey D'Agostino '14, finished seventh overall.

Ice hockey returns to Hanover this weekend as both the Dartmouth men's and women's teams will play their exhibition schedule at home. The women will play McGill University on Friday, and the men will take on McGill on Saturday before facing Norwich University on Sunday. All of the games will take place at Thompson Arena, but none will count toward the teams' overall record.

Battling several injuries, the Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams struggled at the Adidas Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, finishing 32nd and 44th, respectively, at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wis. Of the nation's 30 ranked men's teams, 21 were on the line in Madison, as well as 22 of the top 30 women's teams.

The Big Green women (8-4, 3-1 Ivy) recorded their fourth shutout of the year, as captain Emma Brush '13 scored her third game-winning goal of the season in a 1-0 win over Brown (6-5, 0-3 Ivy). The Dartmouth men (5-6, 1-1 Ivy) fell in overtime to Boston College (8-4-2, 2-3-0 ACC) by a score of 1-0. The game ended in the fifth minute of the extra session on a goal by Boston College senior Kyle Bekker.

RB Akil Sharp, senior, Princeton University. Sharp has scored four rushing touchdowns in only three games for a less-than-potent Princeton offense. His four scores are only two less than opponents have scored against the Tigers this year. He is averaging 52 rushing yards per game and looks to be a crucial component in Princeton's resurgence in Ivy League football.
