Four Dartmouth tennis players represented the Big Green this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association summer tournament, all winning matches on their home courts. Jeri Reichel '13, Christina Danosi '13, Michael Jacobs '13 and Alexander Centenari '13 participated in the tournament, which Dartmouth hosted.

In early June, Dartmouth pitcher Kyle Hendricks '12 was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the eighth round as the 264th player selected in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on June 7. The right-hander was the only player from the Ivy League selected in the first 10 rounds of this year's draft.

The Big Green is going into this weekend riding high on an 11-game winning streak. The team's success is a product of carefully-coached practices and hard work, but it will not change the way the team approaches the upcoming games, according to Joe Sclafani '12.

After a difficult four-game losing streak against Yale University last weekend, the Dartmouth men's baseball team regained momentum for a 5-1 win over St. Anselm College on Tuesday afternoon. The Big Green (19-10, 6-6 Ivy) scored more runs in the win its 17th straight at home than it did during the entire series against Yale.

The Dartmouth men's baseball team dropped four straight games to Ivy League and Red Rolfe Division opponent Yale University in New Haven, Conn., this weekend. The Big Green (18-10, 6-6 Ivy) could not muster any offense in the four contests, scoring only three runs in the 6-1, 5-1, 3-0 and 5-1 losses.

"We feel really good about today's game," Joe Sclafani '12 said. "We were excited about the opportunity to play a really good opponent in Boston College. The outcome was fantastic." The outlook for the day was not promising, however, after Boston College began the game with an explosive four-run inning. Fortunately, the Big Green managed to narrow the deficit to just one in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs using small ball.

The Dartmouth men's baseball team continued its run of the Ivy League gauntlet by sweeping Cornell University and Princeton University on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The Big Green (17-6, 6-2 Ivy) captured a 2-1 extra inning victory over the Big Red (4-20, 2-6 Ivy) to start the weekend and followed with a 4-2 win later that afternoon. Dartmouth pulled out another extra-inning triumph on Sunday, beating the Tigers (12-15, 6-2 Ivy), 4-3, before finishing the weekend with a 5-2 victory.

The 6-4 and 8-1 victories over Columbia (11-11, 2-2 Ivy) represented a rematch of last year's Ivy League Championship, in which the Big Green (12-6, 2-2 Ivy) defeated the Lions in a three-game series. Dartmouth's 2-3 and 14-10 losses to Penn (12-10, 4-0 Ivy) resulted in the Big Green's first series sweep since 2007, when it fell to Brown University.

The Dartmouth men's baseball team went 8-2 during its spring break trip to Florida, improving its overall record to 9-4. In the 10 games played, the Big Green recorded big wins over Akron University, the United States Military Academy, Long Island University, Grinnell University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, but suffered close losses to Indiana University and Northwestern University.

Dartmouth women's softball team made its season debut in Florida this weekend, winning two of five games in the Florida Gulf Coast Stevens Industries Tournament. The tournament marked the first time the team has played together in a competitive game this season.

The Dartmouth ski team placed second in the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Championship, hosted at the Bates Carnival this weekend. The team which beat the University of Vermont for the first time this season at last week's Middlebury Carnival fell to the Catamounts with a team score of 874 points in the last carnival of the regular season. UVM scored 1,017 points.

"We play UMass every year and they have consistently been a competitive team," tri-captain Ryan Reichel '11 said. "They always give a big effort and fight until the very last ball. It's always a good team for us to play. We always fight and play to the end, so it's feels good to walk away from a hard-earned win."

"It's great to see people start stepping up and attempting to fill some pretty big shoes," women's Nordic skier Stephanie Crocker '12 said. "This year is a bit different from last year just in terms of people who have left and trying to figure out who is racing but we've been getting better and better with every carnival. We were definitely upset to have our streak broken, but we're excited to work hard and improve."

"I thought it was a great start to our season," captain Georgiana Smyser '11 said. "Temple is a strong team, but we came out strong and really set the tone. We had some strong performances from our freshmen and we really just took it away from the beginning. We are a young team and some of us are coming back from injuries in the fall, but overall it was a really great day."

Virginia Peisch '11, co-captain of the Dartmouth women's field hockey team, played in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Senior Game at the University of Maryland on Saturday. Peisch was joined by her coach, Amy Fowler, who was also selected by the NFHCA to participate in the Senior Game as a coach.
