For the men, it was a disappointing start to what promises to be a tough Ivy League schedule. Dartmouth (4-3-1, 0-1 Ivy) fell behind after 35 minutes, and though the Big Green outshot Princeton, 16-14, Dartmouth could not find the back of the net. The Tigers (4-3-1, 1-0 Ivy) added two second-half goals to seal the victory.

The Minutemen (1-3-3, 0-0 Atlantic 10) are coming off a tough 1-0 extra-time loss to the University of New Hampshire last Saturday. Though UMass's record does not seem overly impressive, each of its three losses was by just a single goal, and two were to nationally ranked foes. The Minutemen fell to then No. 10 Harvard University, 3-2, on Sept. 6 before suffering a 2-1 defeat to then No. 24 Indiana University on Sept. 19.

The Dartmouth men's heavyweight crew team received the Russell S. Callow Memorial Award, a prestigious honor presented annually by the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges, according to a Dartmouth Sports press release. The award reflects the team's performance during the 2010 spring season, and is awarded due to excellence in the areas of "spirit, courage and unity." In the Eastern Sprints held last spring in Worcester, Mass., Dartmouth upset several top teams to make the Grand Final, ultimately placing fifth overall. They defeated Syracuse University and Northeastern University, both ranked in the top 10, as well as Brown University, the top-ranked squad at the meet. "It's a credit to the oarsmen that their efforts have been honored by the EARC coaches," Dartmouth coach Topher Bordeau said in the release.

Teo Larsson-Sax '13 was the hero for Dartmouth on Friday as his two goals gave Dartmouth its second consecutive win in 2010. The Big Green dominated for long periods late in the game, however, the score remained tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation.

The search for the next head coach of Dartmouth men's basketball ended Wednesday when acting Director of Athletics Bob Ceplikas '78 announced the hiring of Golden State Warriors scout Paul Cormier. This will be Cormier's second stint as Dartmouth head coach as Cormier previously led the Big Green from 1984-1991, going 87-95 for a .478 winning percentage.

Jeff Onstott '11 blasted a grand slam in the Big Green's 9-4 victory over Columbia University in the team's second match-up of the day, helping Dartmouth avoid a sweep. After playing its first 18 games away from Hanover, the Dartmouth baseball team began a 12-game homestand this week at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park. The Big Green (10-10, 2-2 Ivy) defeated Williams College, 14-4, on Wednesday before walking off with a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over Quinnipiac University on Thursday.

With the win against Princeton on Sunday, manager Bob Whalen surpassed Jeff Tesreau as Dartmouth's all-time winningest manager. In 21 seasons at the helm, Whalen has a career record of 384-405-1.

The performance was an improvement from last year's spring trip to California, during which the Big Green went 1-7. On this year's trip, Dartmouth mostly faced schools from the Northeast and Midwest, while the Big Green played schools exclusively from California last year. Dartmouth has not had a winning record on its annual spring trip since 2000.

The Dartmouth co-ed club tennis team successfully defended its title last weekend at the United States Tennis Association Campus Championships New England Sectional. The Big Green defeated Boston College in the finals, 26-18, to secure its second consecutive bid to the USTA National Campus Championships in the Spring.
