This year has been a reasonably mediocre one in the world of sports. No one seems too excited about the NHL or NBA playoffs; and to be honest sometimes I even forgot that they were still going. There's no World Cup or Olympics in the near future, so I started dreaming about the eight things I'd like to see to enliven the sports world and provide us with some entertainment.

At one point during the 2001 Collegiate Road Cycling season, the Dartmouth cycling team feared that they would not even qualify for the National Championships. Aside from weekly top-five finishes of senior Kate Sherwin, winner of the Eastern Conference Division II overall woman's title, top finishes were few and far between.

With the women's lacrosse season over and Maryland once again crowned champion, many individuals got their well deserved recognition this week. Three Dartmouth players received nomination to the Brine/IWLCA All-American team.
