Senior Spotlight: Q&A with women’s rugby standout Lilly Durbin ’21

Lilly Durbin ’21, who recently won Dartmouth Athletics’ Agnes Kurtz Award, is a fifth-year senior on the women’s rugby team and led her team to a national championship this past fall. Durbin has overcome numerous physical challenges that have kept her from playing rugby — after knee surgery and heart surgery in 2019, she returned strong to lead the Big Green with 15 tries this fall, contributing to their national championship win. The Dartmouth sat down with Durbin to discuss her experience playing rugby, career highlights and advice for her freshman year self.






Heavyweight rowing sweeps four races at Alumni Cup

The heavyweight rowing team opened its spring season on a strong note with wins in all four races last weekend at the Alumni Cup in Worcester, Mass. The first varsity eight began the day with a victory over No. 17 ranked Columbia by nearly 13 seconds. The second varsity boat  followed up with another win by an even larger margin: 17 seconds. The third varsity  race saw the Big Green claim both first and second place, while the fourth varsity race was another win for Dartmouth.


Athletic Department releases Gender Equity Plan following 2020 Title IX case

On March 15, the athletic department released its Gender Equity Plan, an outline to ensure that all aspects of varsity athletics at Dartmouth comply with Title IX by the 2023-2024 academic year. The plan was based on external reviews of athletics at the College, which began as a result of a threatened class action lawsuit by Dartmouth student-athletes in 2021. 



Women’s basketball earns overtime victory over Cornell, falls to Columbia

This past weekend, the Dartmouth women's basketball team came out victorious on Friday against Cornell University, but fell short the next day to Columbia University. The win against Cornell marked the Big Green’s third win of the season, with Dartmouth pulling ahead in overtime to secure a 67-64 win. Allie Harland ’23 scored a career-high 15 points and also contributed two free throws in overtime. Mekkena Boyd ’24 made the game-winning layup.
