Green Key marks Dartmouth’s annual spring concert weekend. Celebrating the spring weather, Green Key serves as the last major instance of organized fun before the drudgery of finals. Organized and sponsored by the Collis Governing Board and the Collis Center for Student Involvement, the weekend brings live outdoor music for students to enjoy. With some students’ weekends starting on Wednesday night and many professors canceling Friday classes, the culture surrounding Green Key cultivates a rare moment when many Dartmouth students put aside their commitments to prioritize and enjoy the campus community beyond the classroom. Notably, this year’s concert featured headliner Neon Trees, Cochise, “Battle of the Bands” winner Frank and “Duel of the DJs” winner Duckfoot on the Gold Coast Lawn.
On May 6, Alpha Chi Alpha fraternity held Pigstick — one of its most anticipated events of the year. First hosted in the spring of 1988, Pigstick is a long-standing tradition for the fraternity. Most notably, the party always boasts a complete roast-pig.
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day — a celebration that, every year, the cynics disparage and hopeful romantics await with anticipation. For some students, the commercialized expectations of the day echo hollowly, reinforcing the seeming absence of romance at Dartmouth. Yet, despite their often innocuous arrivals, lifelong relationships spark on our campus in the most fleeting moments.
Women’s rowing finished 11th out of 14 crews in the Championship fours and 26th out of 29 crews in the Championship Eights. Although men’s lightweight rowing had notable success in the singles and doubles competition, Dartmouth placed 14th out of 16 in the Lightweight 4+ and 10th out of 15 in the Lightweight 8+. Despite fierce competition, heavyweight rowing saw the most potential in their A entry of Championship Eights raced a time of 13:45.806, placing ninth out of 25 crews. The heavies’ Championship Eights B entry were behind at 14:02.953, finishing 15th.
Friday, Oct. 21
On Saturday, the men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Panorama Farms XC23 Invitational at the University of Virginia. The nine traveling members of the men’s team and 10 traveling members of the women’s team competed in the 8km and 5km races, respectively.
This weekend, the men’s and women’s soccer teams faced off against Ivy League competitor Princeton University. Dropping their first match of Ivy play, the men’s team fell to a 2-3-2 record while the women’s team lost a hard fought game, moving to 5-4-1 on the season and 0-2 against conference opponents.
