‘RENT’ explores community during an epidemic

The Dartmouth theater department’s MainStage production for the winter term, the rock musical “RENT,” opened on Feb. 18, marking the first time that the show has been produced at Dartmouth. The two-act musical, written and composed by Jonathan Larson, follows a group of impoverished Bohemian artists in their twenties living in the 1980s amid the AIDS epidemic in New York. 



Indigenous photographer Cara Romero will speak at the Hood this Wednesday

On Feb. 9, the Hood Museum of Art will host a talk with Cara Romero, moderated by curator of Indigenous art Jami Powell. Three of Romero’s pieces — “Kaa,” “Oil Boom” and “Water Memory” — are currently on display in two exhibitions in the Hood: “Unbroken: Native American Ceramics, Sculpture and Design” and “This Land: American Engagement with the Natural World.”


Q&A with Government Professor and NH State House Representative Russell Muirhead

Government professor and New Hampshire state representative Russell Muirhead, D-Hanover, has conducted extensive research on conspiracy theories, political partisanship and democracy. He is also a co-director of the Political Economy Project, an interdisciplinary initiative that aims to answer questions located at the intersection of politics, economics and ethics. 



The “Poetic Healing Showcase” Celebrates Black Art and Voices in a Variety of Mediums

The Black Underground Theatre Association returns to campus for the first time following the pandemic with the “Poetic Healing Showcase,” a student-run production that according to the organization’s website will highlight Black poetry, prose and creativity. Featuring student and alumni artists, audience members will witness a collection of singers, poets and dancers with no admission fee required.
