Despite the snow on the ground, the Dartmouth men's and women's tennis teams have both kicked off their spring seasons with January matches. The men's (0-2) and women's (1-1) teams have both competed in two contests so far.

"I think the past nine games have been a roller coaster ride for our team," Jenna Hobeika '12 said. "We'll play well one game and then bad the next game. Overall we've improved from the beginning of the break, but we're still trying to find our team identity and figuring out how we play best together."

The Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams closed out their seasons on Friday at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn., where the men took fourth and the women finished 10th. Even though she missed the last two races due to injury, Abbey D'Agostino '14 showed no signs of rust, repeating as individual champion and advancing to Saturday's NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky.

The Dartmouth men's tennis team was in action over the weekend as the team hosted the annual Dartmouth Shootout at the Boss Tennis Center in Hanover. The Big Green made the most of its home court advantage by dominating its challengers from Williams College, Stony Brook University, Middlebury College and the United States Military Academy.

The Dartmouth women's volleyball team traveled to Buffalo, N.Y., this weekend to take part in the Buffalo Blue and White Tournament. The Big Green faced off against tournament-host University at Buffalo, State University of New York as well as Syracuse University and the University of Hartford. The team lost all three games, falling to Buffalo in five sets and Syracuse and Hartford in four.

Those around the team were not surprised that Plumb earned Ivy League honors after an impressive season. She led the Big Green with 11 assists, 33 goals, 44 points, 71 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers.

In the Columbia match, Dartmouth secured the doubles point by sweeping three closely contested matches. Jeri Reichel '13 and Theresa Smith '15 started off doubles competition with a 9-8 win over their Lions opponents.

The men's team began its California venture with a 6-0 victory over the University of California, Riverside. The Big Green swept the singles competition, all in straight sets. The threat of rain prevented the teams from competing for a doubles point.

Men's diving team captain Chris Plante '12 placed fourth in the three-meter event and fifth in the one-meter event in Dartmouth's meet against Brown University this weekend, which the Big Green handily won. The diving team will be back in action after winter break, beginning with a showdown against Yale University on Jan. 14. I sat down with Plante to talk about pre-dive rituals, the scary aspect of diving and the team's affinity for guacamole.
