The College’s “The Call to Lead: A Campaign for Dartmouth” capital campaign, announced to campus through email Friday night, seeks to raise $3 billion in donations by the end of 2022 to fund a series of projects. So far, the campaign has raised $1.5 billion from over 78,000 donors over the past four years.

Monik Walters ’19 and Nicole Knape ’19 have been elected as Student Assembly president and vice president, respectively, in a race that saw 1,789 ballots cast — a near-record number. Walters received 1,030 votes, while Knape received 945. The pair campaigned as a ticket in the days leading up to the election.

In allegations that span multiple generations of graduate students, four students in Dartmouth’s department of psychological and brain sciences told The Dartmouth this week that three professors now under investigation by the College and state prosecutors created a hostile academic environment that they allege included excessive drinking, favoritism and behaviors that they considered to be sexual harassment.

The American Council on Education sent a letter to top leaders in Congress on Oct. 19 urging them to protect those affected by the rescinding of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy. The letter was signed by nearly 800 colleges and universities, though Dartmouth, which is a member of ACE, was the only Ivy League institution that did not sign.

On Thursday night, a water pipe burst in West Gym, closing the area for the weekend. West Gym includes the running track and basketball courts in Alumni Gym. Zimmerman Fitness Center, which includes the aerobic machines and free weights upstairs in Alumni Gym, will remain open.

In response to President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration, College President Phil Hanlon advised students affected by the seven-nation ban to avoid all international travel. In a campus-wide email co-signed by Provost Carolyn Dever on Sunday afternoon, Hanlon also expressed support for a statement released by the Association of American Universities calling for the order’s repeal.
