Barbary Coast bids fond farewell to its seniors

This past Saturday, the Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble performed the Senior Feature Concert, their last show of the term. The ensemble -- featuring twenty musicians including eighteen Dartmouth students -- performed an eclectic range of fifteen songs that included full ensemble pieces, solos, duets and trios. The program showcased the individual talents of Dartmouth students, and represented a heartfelt farewell for its six graduating seniors: Anatha Krishnan '05, Brent Reidy '05, Kabir Sehgal '05, Brian C.

Vivid action, paranoia mark 'Candidate' Remake

"The Manchurian Candidate" -- a remake of an identically named film from 1962 -- is an unsettling thriller that plays on our rabid fascination with conspiracy theory, political corruption and mind control. The film is characterized by an overwhelming sense of paranoia, a feeling sustained throughout the piece that wreaks havoc on both the protagonist and the audience alike.

Low turnout fails to STRIP the fun from outdoor trips

Every summer with a wave of nostalgia, scores of sophomores throw down their books and take off for the wilderness to relive their freshman trip experience. Sophomore Trips, an annual outdoor program under the auspices of the Outdoor Programs Office, organizes groups of sophomores to venture into the wilds of New Hampshire while getting to know their fellow classmates.

South Africa's Clegg to play Spaulding on Wednesday

As Dartmouth sets into its third week of summer, the double-platinum, Grammy-nominated and internationally renowned musician Johnny Clegg will perform with his current outfit The Johnny Clegg Band in Spaulding Auditorium Wednesday at 7 p.m. Clegg, formerly of the bands Juluku (meaning "Sweat" in Zulu) and Saluka ("We Have Risen") will cap off the day's African-themed events, consisting of a 3 p.m.
